From Awesome David

Thursday, 5th October
Time to tackle death valley . Death Valley is the hottest and driest place in the US, and one of the hottest in the world. It holds the record for having the hottest day ever officially recorded (134 deg. F / 57 deg. C).

Red Cathedral

It's hot, really hot. When they tell you to bring water you go through 4 bottles. The air temperature is 40 degrees with barely any shade slowly dying every step you take. After 10 minutes your feet start to ache and you have to take big steps to gain altitude with common stops for water. You have to have lip balm because your lips dry out in literally minutes. After passing all shade you have the risk of seeing rattlesnakes. clinging to the rocks your feet start to slip and loose rock debris tumbles down the cliffs into the canyon. You pass some people, giving way getting pushed to the edge closer and closer every millimeter. Once you reach the top you feel a sense of pride with wind gusting as well as huge red rock outcrops that could topple at any minute. The outcrops are massive much bigger than you making you feel as small as an ant compared to a big traffic cone. Once you take a couple of pics with the view and the cathedral it's time to go back. The second you touch the rocky path you slide down smashing your face on the boulder just 5 meters in front of you. Your only chance is to run because walking you just slide down and rip your pants. When you get the courage to run, the debris is still falling and you have to push of the rocks you stop smashing your body. Once you get through the slippery slidey rocks the walk is still hot and sunny but easygoing.
